12-Day Kenya & Tanzania Safari

Mara · Serengeti · Ngorongoro · Tarangire

12 days · 11 nights Pace: Easy Max group: 8 Stay: Mid to upper mid-range tented camps and lodges

Trip overview

The ultimate East African journey, combine Kenya's Maasai Mara with Tanzania's Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire. The migration on both sides of the border.

Two countries, one extraordinary journey

The Maasai Mara and Serengeti are the same ecosystem, the international border is invisible to wildlife. The Great Migration spends most of the year in Tanzania, crossing into Kenya only briefly each year. Combining the two unlocks the best of both: the Mara's drama and accessibility, the Serengeti's vast scale, plus the Ngorongoro Crater (the world's largest unbroken caldera, with 25,000 large mammals living inside).

This 12-day journey adds Tarangire (huge elephant herds, baobab trees) to round out a trip that genuinely touches every shade of East African safari.

Visa note: You'll need a Tanzania visa in addition to your Kenya eTA. Single-entry East Africa Tourist Visa is also available and covers Kenya + Rwanda + Uganda, but not Tanzania.

What guests say

★★★★★
I am a wildlife photographer and I have travelled across Africa for twenty years. Afriroam's knowledge of the conservancies and their relationships with the guides made this the most productive safari I have ever done. The lighting, the patience, the access, exceptional.

★★★★★
Our second safari, but our first with a Kenyan-owned operator, and it's the only way we'll travel here from now on. The conservancy stay was a revelation. We watched a leopard hunt at twilight from our tent. The Afriroam team handled every logistic from JFK to JKIA seamlessly.

★★★★★
Three generations of my family, me, my daughter and her two teenagers, and somehow Afriroam designed a trip that thrilled all of us. The kids loved cycling through Hell's Gate, my daughter loved the lodges, and I loved that everything just worked. Honest, kind, and brilliant at what they do.
