About Afriroam Safaris

A small, Kenyan-owned team turning wild dreams into honest, unforgettable safaris.

Born of the bush

Afriroam Safaris was founded in Nairobi by a small team of Kenyans who grew up at the edge of the savannah, the children of guides, conservation rangers, and Maasai elders. We started Afriroam because we wanted to do safaris differently from the big international operators: smaller scale, deeper local knowledge, and honest pricing.

What we believe

Safaris should be unhurried. Most operators rush you through three parks in three days. We design itineraries that let you sit with a leopard for an hour, eat a long bush breakfast, take a midday nap, and head out again when the light gets golden.

Safaris should be ethical. We partner with community conservancies wherever possible, Maasai-owned, Samburu-managed, Laikipia-rooted reserves where tourism revenue funds anti-poaching, education and clean water. We don't use elephant rides. We don't do unethical wildlife encounters.

Safaris should be transparent. Our quotes itemise every park fee, lodge night and tip kitty. There are no surprise costs at the end.

Safaris should be about more than wildlife. We believe the people of Kenya, the Maasai herders, the Samburu warriors, the Swahili merchants, the Nairobi café owners, are as much a part of the story as the lions and elephants. We design experiences that bring them in.

Who we are

We're a team of 12, six guides, three trip planners, two conservation partners and a finance lead. Our guides are KPSGA-certified (Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association, the most rigorous guide qualification in East Africa), have an average of 15 years' field experience, and speak English plus their tribal languages and Swahili.

What we're building

We want Afriroam to be the small, trustworthy operator you recommend to your closest friends, the team you message on WhatsApp when your sister asks "who should I book with for our anniversary?" Slow growth. Long relationships. Real safaris.

Our promise

If for any reason you arrive at a lodge that doesn't match what we promised, we'll move you and refund the difference. We're KATO members, TRA-licensed, and bonded.

Karibu. Welcome. Asante for considering us.
